Suspected burglar caught within 30 minutes of break-in at Sheppey home

A suspected burglar has been arrested and charged after a break-in at a home on Sheppey.

The man, who was tracked down within just 30 minutes, was detained after patrols attended the address in Leysdown Road, near Leysdown, where entry had been forced and a car was stolen.

The burglary was reported to police shortly after noon on Wednesday.

Patrols attended and identified the suspect walking close to the scene, while the stolen car was recovered nearby.

Peter Behun, 46 and of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with burglary, taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent, driving while over the legal alcohol limit, and criminal damage in relation to allegations he spat in a police vehicle.

He was remanded in custody and was due to appear before Medway Magistrates today.
