Teen in court accused of supplying drug MDMA following death of Sheerness pupil Emre Huseyin, 15

A teenager has appeared in court following the death of a teenager on the Isle of Sheppey.

Emre Huseyin died in Sheerness on Saturday. He would have been 16 tomorrow.

A 17-year-old boy from Sidcup has been charged with supplying MDMA.

The drug methyl​enedioxy​methamphetamine (MDMA) is commonly known as ecstasy, E, XTC or molly,

Police said: "The offence is reported to have taken place in Sheerness on Saturday.

"He has also been charged with threatening a person with a knife following an unrelated incident which also took place in Sheerness on Saturday."

The teenager, who was arrested on Monday morning, was charged last night (Tuesday) after being interviewed by officers.

He was remanded in custody and appeared at Medway Magistrates Court at 10am.

Wearing a grey jumper and trousers he spoke only to confirm his details as his family watched on from the back of the courtroom.

Magistrates released him on conditional bail, to appear again at the same court next Tuesday for a plea hearing.

He was told not to enter the Isle of Sheppey, or to contact any witnesses involved in the case. He was also told to co-operate with the youth offending team.

He will be on tag and must not leave his London home between 7pm and 6am.

Another teenager from Swanley was arrested on suspicion of supplying drugs on Saturday. He was bailed, pending further enquiries, until February 26.

Tributes have been paid to Emre who was a star pupil at the Oasis Academy, Minster, where he was popular with colleagues and staff.

He was a member of the school's award-winning Dementia Cafe team and had been part of a party invited to meet royal couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle at Wembley Arena last March.
