Flowers have been taken from a garden that is used by patients recovering from serious illnesses.

Two cordylines and some fruit bushes were discovered missing from an area rented by the Harmony Therapy Trust in Victoria Street, Sheerness, on Wednesday morning.

Founder of the charity, Dawn Cockburn, suspects children got in under a fence to steal them as earth had been visibly disturbed.

The weak spot has since been reinforced.

The 63-year-old, of Minster, said: “The value of the flowers was probably very little, but the fact is a theft is a theft.

“I feel so disappointed that children are brought up to think they can take things and it doesn’t matter, especially from a charity.”

The previous week, there had been a suspicious incident when three young boys were hanging around the chain link fence.

They shouted if they could have some flower pots but were told they were for the memorial garden.

Harmony Therapy Trust, was founded two years ago to provide free holistic care to patients who have had cancer or other life threatening diseases.
