Fire crews from Sheppey and Sittingbourne were called and two male adults who were trapped in the Seat were released by firefighters, who used hyrdaulic cutting equipment to remove the roof of the car.

Two men, one who is believed to be in his 40s suffering with chest and back pain, were taken to Medway Maritime Hospital by land ambulance.

The air ambulance was also at the scene and landed in the Gefco car park.

There were no passengers on the bus.

Police closed the road at the Tesco roundabout and motorists were advised to take alternative routes.

Traffic was queueing along the road from the Whiteways roundabout at Queenborough, which a witness said is mostly trucks trying to get to the mill and docks.

Police reopened the road at about 4.30pm.
