Wendy King misses out on Commonwealth Games place

Halfway bowls player Wendy King insists she will bounce back strongly from the disappointment of missing out on next year’s Commonwealth Games.

King was hoping her impressive form this season would have won her a place in the England squad for Delhi 2010 but the selectors instead opted for youth over experience.

King said: "The team they have picked is very young and they are building a squad for the future. I’m not old in bowling terms but I am significantly older than some others in the team.

"I thought I would have had half a chance but it wasn’t to be. It won’t knock me down though. I’ll keep going and I’m not ready to finish."
