A WOMAN collapsed and died on the promenade of The Leas at Minster, near Sheerness, while walking her dog.

An ambulance and Kent Air Ambulance attended, but 84-year-old German-born Siggy Sharland did not survive despite being given resuscitation by a passer-by.

Mrs Sharland, a widow, lived at Whybornes Chase, Minster, and daily walked her Labrador, Heidi, along the seafront.

A friend Glennis Powell said: "She was a nurse at the old Sheppey General Hospital for many years and came to this country after the war when she married an English airman who was based at the old Eastchurch aerodrome."

The funeral will be on Wednesday, March 28, at 2pm at The Garden of England Crematorium, Bobbing.

No flowers by request ,but all donations to go either to the Dogs Trust or for a seat to be placed on the seafront in her memory, c/o G Hogben and Sons, telephone 01795 580321.
