Opening bowler Jarred Lysaught (3-82), Cameron Wilshaw (2-32) and Ben Rutherford (2-46) got among the wickets.

In the hosts’ reply, opening bowler Bill Prideaux’s 3-8 from six overs left them 23-3 before James Thompson (3-36) also did well.

Lysaught top scored with 62 off 43 balls and Canterbury captain Jarryd Taig offered 56 from 47 balls but the hosts were dismissed for 194. The result leaves Canterbury second-bottom.

A 35-over game saw Tunbridge Wells earn a 12-run victory at second-placed St Lawrence & Highland Court.

Opening batsmen Chris Williams and Ben Dawkins struck 50 in the visitors’ 196-8, Australian overseas all-rounder Jason Sangha (3-28) and Jamie Hemphrey (3-37) impressing. Fit-again Kent bowler Matt Quinn returned 0-42 from six overs.

Sudesh Thakur’s unbeaten 68 off 52 balls, which included four sixes and four fours, gave St Lawrence & Highland Court hope. But they ended up short as Tunbridge Wells’ Michael Waller (3-36) helped to turn the screw.

Basement boys Sandwich Town are now 12 points adrift after they were beaten in a 30-over home match by Hayes.

Half-centuries by opening batsman Gareth Severin (63) and William MacVicar (51 not out) helped Hayes reach 202-4 despite Harry Bee’s 2-32.

Bickley Park had reached 83-4 from 14 overs before their home game against Blackheath was abandoned.

Defending champions Lordswood’s home clash with Bexley was washed out without a ball being bowled.
