Doddington Primary School, which closed in 2006, is up for rent

A former school has been put up for rent just days after being sold to overseas investors.

Doddington Primary School closed in 2006 after a drop in the number of pupils.

In 2010, it was sold by Kent County Council to Bromley school Langley Park but is now surplus to requirements.

The 2.5-acre site, off The Street, was put on the market by Acorn Commercial and Development earlier this year and its sale was completed on Friday, August 7.

Acorn projects manager Adam Hosking said: “It went to best and final offers and we had four bidders, who had all been at the asking price of £425,000.

“It’s perfect for a day-care nursery – it would work for any educational purpose. It might also be of interest to someone in the medical profession – a dentist, doctor, chiropractor or physio.”

Any tenant would be expected to pay £35,000 a year, which gets them a hall, two teaching areas, offices, a kitchen and staff room and toilets.
