Minterne Juniors presented with bag containing cricket gear by Lady Taverners

A Sittingbourne school is gearing up for summer with the arrival of new cricket equipment.

Minterne Juniors were presented with a bag containing a range of gear, including stumps, bails and balls.

It was donated by the Lady Taverners, a charity that provides accessories to help boost sports participation in schools nationwide.

One of the charity’s high-profile members, former international Swimmer Angela Wilson, visited the school on Friday to present the bag.

Angela, who runs Angela’s Swim School, said: “It was a nice opportunity to meet the children and see what our help is doing.”

In a bid for support from the Taverners, Minterne PE coordinator Barbara Mitchell said: “As a school, we have been committed to developing cricket over a number of years, using a coach throughout the summer term to work alongside our staff to enhance their knowledge and teaching skills.

“We have an excellent supported cricket club.

“This year we have put a leadership scheme into place for boys who would not necessarily take part in a club.”
