Firefighters were called to West Lane in Sittingbourne yesterday evening where a pile of rubbish had caught fire.

The crews from two tenders used breathing apparatus and a high pressure hose reel jet to tackle the "deep-seated" blaze.

They were called to the incident at five past five and the blaze was extinguished by 6.45pm.

There were no injuries and the cause of the fire is unknown.
