Food delivery company Deliveroo has announced that it is now available in Hempstead, Rainham Sittingbourne and Dover after bringing its launch date forward by weeks.

It said the reason for doing so was to help customers and, in particular, restaurants through the third national lockdown - potentially leading to businesses expanding and the employment of more staff.

The app and website enables people to order food from a range of restaurants and grocery retailers across the towns.

Deliveroo works with independent restaurants like The Ambrette, Tacos Locos, Curry Queen and Thaii Fusion, as well as high street chains including KFC and Burger King and convenience stores like Co-op.

The company said it would continue to add new restaurants, takeaways and convenience stores to the platform over the coming months.

Harrison Foster, regional director, said: "Launching in these areas is a key milestone for Deliveroo.

"They have a thriving foodie community and a wide range of restaurants and retailers, so we’re excited to connect them.

"We look forward to working with our new partners to reach a new customer base and expand their businesses.”

Deliveroo is giving customers 20 per cent off of orders for the next four weeks with codes CHATHAM10, DOVER10 and SITTINGBOURNE10.

It is also looking for up to 50 people to become riders.

Those who work as riders will be able to work when they want and where they want, delivering food and groceries to customers’ doors in as little as 20 minutes.
