Police officer assaulted in Pembury Street, Sittingbourne

A man has been charged with assaulting a police officer.

The officer asked the driver of a car that had stopped in Pembury Street in Sittingbourne to do a breath test at about 3.40am on Wednesday.

It is then alleged one of the officers was assaulted.

Freddie King, of Woodberry Drive in Murston, was charged with assaulting an emergency worker, driving without a licence and insurance and drink driving.

The 23-year-old was bailed to appear at Maidstone Magistrates' Court on Friday, June 14.
