A driver has been killed in an early-morning motorway crash.
A 26-year-old man from Chatham was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and remains in custody.
The incident took place shortly before 1am today on the London-bound carriageway of the motorway close to the junction 5 exit.
Kent Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the fatal collision and the road was closed towards London between junctions 5 and 6 to allow these investigations to take place at the scene earlier.
The motorway reopened shortly before noon and any delays began to clear.
A spokesman for Kent Police said: "Officers would also like to obtain dash cam footage from motorists who were travelling on the M2 and captured the cars travelling in the moments leading up to the collision.
"This includes footage that may have been recorded by people travelling on the opposite carriageway."
Officers would also like to speak to anyone who has any other information that can help them to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Kent Police on 01622 798538 quoting KH/DC/066/20
