It is believed the blaze has been brought under control and is almost entirely out.

The fire service said it received "a number" of calls in response from about 2.53pm.

At its height, around 30 firefighters, six fire engines and an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) were tackling the blaze.

It has now been scaled down to just an ATV and two fire engines.

It comes after a senior firefighter at Kent Fire and Rescue issued an appeal last night for people to be vigilant as rural areas face "tinder dry conditions".
