Crews were called at 1.40pm. Two fire engines are still at the scene.

A KFRS spokeswoman said: "Crews have been working to extinguish a fire involving an outdoor container and construction materials. No casualties have been reported."

The fire is near the Spring Acres housing estate being built for Hyde New Homes by the Chartway Group. Details of how the fire started have not yet been confirmed.

The first phase of the development is for 146 homes. The scheme will eventually have 592 units and include a shop at the bottom of a block of flats.

Construction work began in January 2021 and is expected to finish this August.
