Demelza Hospice Care for Children, Bobbing, hosts Sittingbourne to Amsterdam bike ride

Dozens of people have signed up for a 340-mile bike ride.

Demelza Hospice Care for Children is hosting the Sittingbourne to Amsterdam fundraiser next year.

It’s one of the charity’s 101 challenges which sees 100 people coming together to support one cause.

To launch the ride, an information evening was held at its site in Rook Lane, Bobbing, last Monday during which 40 people registered to take part in the event which takes place from Wednesday, April 27 to Sunday, May 1.

The target is to raise is £100,000 overall.

Many people who took part in last year’s Sittingbourne to Paris ride have already put their names down for the route, which will take in Bruges and Breda.

Events co-ordinator Emma Austen said: “It was wonderful to see so many people at the launch night; some familiar faces as well some we haven’t met before.

“The atmosphere at our previous 101 was absolutely fantastic and we had people cheering on our riders as they made their way through Kent.

“We are really looking forward to the challenge next year and hope to get 100 people signed up as soon as possible.”
