Eight fire engines called out to tackle blaze at wood recycling plant in Iwade

A huge fire has hit Ridham Dock overnight - with eight fire engines and more than 40 firefighters called on to tackle the blaze.

Two special appliances were also used to fight the fire which struck at a wood recycling plant in Iwade.

The fire is thought to have started in wood shredding machinery, before flames spread through a building.

Some of the machinery has been destroyed, and the building is at least a third damaged.

No injuries have been reported, and crews left at shortly after 4am.
