Sittingbourne double stabbing: Thomas Wheeler committed to crown court

A man accused of stabbing two people during a town centre knife attack has been committed to the Crown Court.

Thomas Wheeler, 24, of West Street, Sittingbourne, was remanded in custody by Medway magistrates on Wednesday.

He will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Wednesday, September 25.

Wheeler faces two charges of grievous bodily harm and one count of affray following an assault on three people in Sittingbourne on Bank Holiday Monday.

He was arrested following a reported disturbance at a private address in West Street at around 9.10pm.

Two men and a woman were injured in the attack. The woman and one of the men were taken to hospital with stab wounds.

The man was later airlifted to a London hospital for an emergency operation.

A police spokesman said all those injured are expected to make a full recovery.
