Missing man fails to return home for Christmas

By Hayley Robinson

Despite an emotional plea, the parents of a missing man are still no closer to finding out what has happened to their son.

Pauline and Jim Green appealed to Matthew to contact them or return home for Christmas in last week’s Sittingbourne Messenger. Sadly they heard nothing and the 26-year-old’s whereabouts remains a mystery.

The self-employed roofer was last seen at the family home in Rock Road, Sittingbourne, at 8pm on Thursday, April 8, when he told his parents he was going to stay with a friend in Mile End, London, for the weekend. When he did not return home, his disappearance was reported to the police.

Matthew’s parents, brother Nathan, his partner Karen, their son Oliver and Pauline’s mum Mary gathered at the family home on Christmas Day in the hope Matthew would walk through the door. His presents were wrapped under the tree and a place set at the table.

Jim said: "It was quite emotional. Everyone unwrapped their presents from under the tree but Matt’s were just left there. Everyone went quiet for a while and there were a few tears.

"Our message is still the same, for Matt to come home or get in contact with us."
