Owner's fears for stolen parrots

By Hayley Robinson

An animal lover is appealing for the safe return of her two stolen parrots.

Marion Horsford fears the African greys, called Percy (pictured bottom left) and Pip (Pictured top right), may have been sold.

They were taken from an aviary in the back garden of her house in Woodberry Drive, Murston.

The birds are mates and could become distressed if separated.

Percy, who talks in a Sheffield accent and can mimic a ringing telephone, has a bald chest where he plucks his feathers out.

Mrs Horsford, 62, said: "Percy would never make a good pet bird. He doesn’t like being caged and he’s unpredictable. The only person he would sit on the hand of was my daughter Shonagh. We loved him, but you’ve got to know him to love him."

Posters have been placed at pet shops and veterinary surgeries around Sittingbourne in the hope someone will come forward with information about the theft between 9.30pm and 9.55pm on December 22.

Anyone with information should contact Sittingbourne police on 01795 419182 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting crime report number CY/20213/10.
