Park pest strikes again

CONCERN is growing over how to tackle lewd criminal acts in a Sittingbourne park after a man indecently exposed himself in front of a 20-year-old woman.

The exposure, the ninth in and around Albany Park since June, has sparked concern from police that the installation of a state-of-the-art security camera and increased patrols are not deterring the men.

The park and cemetery in Capel Road is known to be a popular haunt for men who like to expose themselves, as well as being a vandalism and crime hot spot.

The latest incident took place on Monday of last week at about 6pm and follows a spate of similar exposures in the summer.

Swale police spokeswoman Sally Farrell said: "It is a cause for concern but we don't want people to panic. We have installed CCTV cameras as a result of the exposures and complaints from residents about ongoing damage in the park. It did seem to stop the problem for a while, but he has struck again."

Anyone with information about the latest indecent exposure can call Swale police on 01795 477055 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
