Plumes of smoke could be seen for miles billowing across a town following a fire.
Firefighters were called to a yard fire off of Sittingbourne High Street last night just before 8.40pm.
Three fire engines were sent to the scene, and crews used hose reel jets and a main jet to extinguish a fire involving mattresses and hedges.
The blaze was put out by 9.25pm.
No injuries have been reported, and the cause is not yet known.
A witness told of the moment they noticed the blaze in which they thought was coming from the town centre.
The Gazehill resident said: “You can see the cloud of smoke for miles – it’s massive.
“It looks like it is coming from the town centre.
“I can hear emergency vehicle sirens.”
