The BarnYard in Upchurch says it is not closing despite December's sales being down due to an emergency road closure

‘It’s business as usual.’

That’s the message from the management team of The BarnYard in Upchurch.

Concerns had been raised about the future of the business after Oak Lane was closed at the junction with London Road from December 8 until the evening of December 23.

It was put in place so Network Rail engineers could carry out emergency repairs to the area around the railway bridge.

But there was no diversion route in place for several days, resulting in a loss of passing trade.

The venue relies on Christmas custom to get through the quieter months.

While takings were down in comparison to the same period last year it is now business as usual.

Manager Santosh Mall, pictured, said: “First of all we would like to reassure all of our customers that the BarnYard will not be closing.

“The BarnYard remains a thriving business with close ties to the local community and a loyal customer base to whom we are very grateful for their continued support.”
