Closure of Sittingbourne-bound carriageway on Sheppey Crossing bridge after car breakdown

A route from the Isle of Sheppey had to close today (Tuesday) during rush hour after a car breakdown.

Police said that the Sheppey Crossing's Sittingbourne-bound carriageway had to briefly shut.

A spokesman said: "Kent Police were called to a report that a car had broken down on a live lane of the Sheppey Crossing at 5.32pm.

"The incident happened on the Sittingbourne-bound carriageway and, to ensure public safety, a road closure was enforced.

"The carriageway was then reopened at 5.55pm."
