Police investigating the death of a woman on railway track near Sittingbourne say they don't believe it was suspicious.
Emergency services were called around 2.20pm to reports of somebody being hit by a train on track adjacent to the Bobbing Apple pub and hotel complex next to the A249.
As of 5.20pm, the train was still at the scene as were several Kent Police, British Transport Police (BTP) and South East Coastal Ambulance vehicles.
A BTP spokesman said medics had declared the woman, whose age is unknown, dead and officers were working to contact her next-of-kin.
He added that a file is currently being created for the coroner. Southeastern services along the line have been cancelled and other services around the area have also been affected.
