Kizzy the cockapoo found with horrific neck wound in Lower Halstow recovering well

A dog left with a horrific neck injury as a result of neglect is settling into normal life with a loving fosterer.

Kizzy, an 18-month-old cockapoo bitch was found in a bush in Lower Halstow with a deep wound to her neck.

Last week she underwent an operation to close up the wound after being taken in by New Hope Animal Rescue in Herne Bay.

It is believed her injury was caused by a collar made of baling twine which slowly wore away at her flesh over time.

After a successful operation, Kizzy has been living in the care of a new fosterer.

The sanctuary posted on Facebook earlier today to update everyone who has been asking about her.

"She’s just like a puppy. Toilet training, wanting to chew non edible items- plants, pillows, electrical wires etcetera," it said.

"Getting better on walks, less scared of noises/ traffic. Had a lovely fuss today and met a few dogs of various ages - nervous at first but good with these, especially the six-month-old collie.

"Some scabs have come off wound so looks a little pink but seems ok and comfortable. She does have a suspicious hard patch of skin on the back of her neck- I wonder if that will break down or not. Only small line and small round patch - hopefully will be okay.

"Proper cockapoo - following people, hoarding slippers. Very, very cuddly.”
