Sittingbourne joint-manager Jim Ward insists there is no pressure on his high-flying side - despite their rise to fifth place in Ryman League Division 1 South.

Brickies moved into the play-off places with a 3-0 win against Corinthian-Casuals on Saturday but Ward, pictured, wants his players to forget about the table and carry on playing with a smile.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday night's fixtures, he said: "I’d rather be fifth-top than fifth-bottom, but there’s no pressure on us to do anything and I’m sure nobody else in the league will be taking us seriously, either.

"The important thing is to keep enjoying ourselves. One defeat and you can easily slip to ninth or 10th."

Brickies look to extend their impressive home record when they take on Chipstead at Bourne Park on Saturday. Defender Nick Davis is due to fly back from a business trip to San Francisco on Friday night and wants to play.

Ward said: "He’s one of our best players but it’s a long flight and I only want him to play if he’s 100% right. We go back years, so I can trust him to be honest."
