Sittingbourne manager Gary Abbott demands an improvement

Gary Abbott has told his Sittingbourne players they owe the club a good performance in Saturday's home match against Eastbourne Town.

The manager said they should be embarrassed by their display in Tuesday’s 3-0 defeat by Chipstead, their third successive home defeat.

It was all the more baffling just three days after a 1-1 draw at Merstham which could easily have brought three points in Ryman League, Division 1 South.

Eastbourne lie 15th in the table and an even tougher-looking prospect is Monday night’s trip to Walton Casuals, who are level with play-off chasing Sittingbourne on 32 points.

Abbott (pictured) accepted that Chipstead deserved their success.

He said: "I’ve never seen two forwards work so hard. I hope it was a one-off for us. We need six points from the next two games."

Hicham Akhazzan, Joe Horlock and Tom Bradbrook will hope to shake off injuries.
