A mum enjoyed a free makeover thanks to the artistic talents of her son.
Dozens of children from schools across Sittingbourne were invited to enter Asda’s Mum in a Million competition by making a card to show how special their mother is.
But it was nine-year-old Meadowfield School pupil Matthew Jones’s picture showing mum Donna’s long dark hair and blue eyes which wowed the judges.
As a result the 29-year-old married mum of two, who lives in Warden Bay, was invited to the store in Mill Way, where staff did her make-up and put her hair up in a bun.
She was also presented with a £200 George gift card and had her own personal shopper to guide her through the store’s fashion collections.
Mrs Jones said: “I didn’t even know he’d entered the competition until I got a phone call from his teacher saying he’d won.
“It was really nice. I’ve only ever had my make-up done professionally once before and that was for my best friend’s wedding.
“With the gift card I bought a onsie that I wanted and then we all went to the Asda store in Maidstone the other weekend where we had something to eat and bought toys.”
Asda community champion Claire Fosbeary said: “We wanted to reward our winning mum with a much-deserved prize.
“Mother’s Day is always a special time and it’s great that we can give local kids the chance to show their appreciation.
“It was a tough decision to make as we received such brilliant entries but we think Donna really is a Mum in a Million.”
