The bad weather has had many clubs in a bit of a spin but Sittingbourne have been taking it literally.

The players have been taking ‘spinning’ sessions, working out on exercise bikes, as part of their training while they wait for a chance to play their first match since December 14.

Assistant manager Richard Brady works at North West Kent College, Wilmington, where he has been able to arrange training sessions in the gym.

Manager Gary Abbott, pictured, said: "We’ve still been training twice a week. We’ve been able to get into the gym at the college and we’ve organised spinning classes for the players in the sports centre."

After the latest postponement, of Bourne’s home match against local rivals Faversham, in Ryman League Division 1 South on Monday, the players were due to train again on Tuesday and Thursday this week.

Sittingbourne are next due to play at Merstham on New Year’s Day.

The Surrey side are just three points behind the Brickies, against whom they drew 1-1 when the teams met back in August.

Abbott said: "It’s another big game against another one of the teams near us in the table. We’ll be going there to attack and try to get three points."

Abbott is expecting to have a full squad from which to choose from.
