A teenage entrepreneur from Sittingbourne is quids in thanks to her sparkling new hobby.

Charlotte Bareham, 14, has set up an online jewellery business from her home in Beaconsfield Road.

The Sittingbourne Community College pupil has created a range of bespoke silver trinkets including bracelets, earrings, rings and necklaces.

She said: “I got the idea from watching the Jewellery Channel. I started making items and my mum came up with the idea of selling it.

"I’m not sure if I want to make a career out of it, but it’s something I enjoy as a hobby.

“I’ve always been quite arty and I just found I had a talent for making jewellery,”

Charlotte uses tools including pliers and mini-hammers to fashion her stylish accessories.

She said she picks up creative tips from other designers’ Facebook pages and her carefully-crafted pieces are sold “quite cheap”.

A home jewellery party raised nearly £150 through sales of her own collection and gave her fledgling venture a flying start.

It’s early days, but if reviews from satisfied customers are anything to go by, Charlotte’s future is as bright as her eye-catching creations.
