No injuries were reported. It is understood the fire was started accidentally by a fault in an electrical appliance.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue said: "Crews have praised the occupants of the adjoining property who closed internal doors on their way out of the building. That is believed to have reduced the spread of the fire."

Firefighters received the emergency call just before 1pm and were at the scene for an hour.
