A Kent County Council (KCC) spokesman said: "To allow resurfacing works to be carried out, KCC intends to make an order prohibiting through traffic on part of Charlotte Street, Sittingbourne, on or after February 23 for up to five days or until the works have been completed."

For the first phase, the road will be shut between the junctions with Church Street and Lywood Drive, and the alternative route will be via Church Street, Redgrove Avenue, Lywood Drive and vice versa.

For phase two, the road will be closed from outside number 15 to outside number 85.

To facilitate this closure, KCC said, it will also be necessary to close Lywood Drive at the junction with Charlotte Street.
