Traffic was left queuing for five miles after an accident closed a major road through Kent.

A two-car crash on the eastbound carriageway of the M2 saw both lanes closed between Junction 5 at Sittingbourne and the Junction 6 turn-off for Faversham.

Emergency services attended and both lanes were shut while the vehicles were moved, but the scene was clear by just after 5pm.

No serious injuries were reported.
