A section of the A249 was closed this evening after a van caught fire near Sittingbourne.

The road was shut Sheppey bound at the Bobbing turn off for more than two hours while fire crews put out the blaze.

No injuries have been reported and the road has now reopened.

The road closure caused long delays during rush hour, but these have cleared.
