A249 Maidstone-bound closure cancelled due to weather

This weekend's closure of the A249 has been cancelled due to the wet weather forecast.

National Highways has confirmed that the Maidstone-bound closures between Bobbing and Stockbury are no longer going ahead.

It was scheduled to be fully closed from 8pm tomorrow until 5am on Monday, April 3 as work continued on the £92 million revamp of Stockbury roundabout.

A spokesman said: "This weekend's closure has been cancelled due to the weather forecast.

"During the recent overnight and weekend closures we’ve managed to do most of the drainage works and construction of the new concrete central reservation.

"We’ve also been busy preparing the carriageway and getting it ready to tie into the new southbound merge.

"We'll provide more information once we have a new date confirmed for this work."
