ShakeThat Dance School will represent England in the Hip Hop International dance competition in San Diego next month.
The team of eight dancers, which included members of IMD Legion who made it through to the semi-finals of this year’s Britain’s Got Talent, secured themselves a place after they won second place in the British finals held in Portsmouth back in April.
Twenty-one dancers from the Sittingbourne school have also been selected to represent England at the IDO World Hip Hop championships in Rimini, Italy, this October.
The news comes hot on the heels of dancer Honey Borthwick-Hunter being crowned British Champion in the Under 12 solos at the finals of Street Dance International in May.
The 11-year-old and her partner Mia Thomas, 11, were also crowned Under 12 duo British champions at the same event.
Mia went on to win the European Hip Hop Championships held in Poland in June, while Honey will be among those competing in Italy.
School principal Stacie Hudson, 29, said: “Our dancers know that it takes hard work and dedication to achieve the results that they want, they never shy away from a challenge, and I am so proud of them.
“I want to thank all of the primary and secondary schools who have constantly supported ShakeThat Dance School and the pupils and allowed them the time off to represent their country.
“A massive thank-you to our choreographers Stephen Tucker and Omar Awuah, the children wouldn’t be where they are without your drive and passion.
“Thank you to all the parents of our students.”
