Sittingbourne forward Tommie Fagg says sorry for red card against Ramsgate

Tommie Fagg apologised following his red card in Sittingbourne's defeat by Kent rivals Ramsgate.

Fagg was sent off after raising his arms in retaliation to a kick from Rams player Harry Stannard.

It happened midway through the second half of Saturday's Bostik South East derby and visitors Rams pinched a 1-0 victory with three minutes left.

Brickies boss Aslan Odev said: "I think it was a red card, although I felt their boy got off lightly.

"Emotions got the better of Tommie and that can happen when players are trying as hard as they can to get a result.

"He did make contact, it wasn't violent, but when it's to the face you make the referee's mind up.

"As a manager, you have to be a little understanding when emotions are running high.

"I know him well and it's not in his character to lash out but I did make it clear that it can't happen again.

"When you lose a player like that it means everyone has to work even harder and it makes life more difficult.

"He's apologised to his team-mates and to myself.

"He understands the severity of it and I've got to make it clear it can't happen again because we set high standards here.

"We've got a good group of lads and he's one of them.

"He takes full responsibility for what happened and he let the boys know he takes it on the chin."

Fagg starts a three-game ban when Sittingbourne visit Haywards Heath this Saturday.

They're new opponents for the Brickies this season and Odev is looking for a quick response after the Ramsgate defeat.

He said: "We're just trying to get going again. We don't want one loss turning into two.

"Haywards Heath are new to the league but we've been able to watch them.

"They're OK but I believe we can beat any team in this league if we play how we should.

"We know their game plan and we should be able to get the result we need."
