Matt Wyatt has played down the rivalry between high-flying Sittingbourne and Whitstable.

The teams meet at Woodstock Park in Ryman League Division 1 South on Tuesday in a match that sees the return of former Brickies joint-managers Jim and Danny Ward plus ex-players Ryan Golding, Luke Girt, Tom Loynes and Ashley Ulph.

But Sittingbourne boss Wyatt insists there’s no extra edge to the Whitstable match.

He said: “It’s just another game to me.

"I’ve got no problem with Jim and Danny. They did a good job here and without them bringing me in as coach, I wouldn’t be at Sittingbourne.

“The game doesn’t need to be hyped up. I’m not thinking about it until the weekend and I don’t want to talk about it.

“It’s just a game we’re looking to win. If we get the points, great and if they beat us, so be it.”

Brickies have extra time to prepare for the derby as they are without a game on Saturday.
