Areas near Tenterden are affected by the alert including villages such as Woodchurch, Appledore and Stone.

The alert stretches across to villages near Bodiam including Robertsbridge.

Flooding is expected to particularly affect areas near Crowhurst Bridge and Shrub Lane due to rivers in the area, which are expected to be high due to lots of rain last night.

Flooding of properties is not forecast at this point but river levels are expected to stay high due to more rain being forecast over the next two days.

The government website has said teams are closely monitoring the situation: "Our incident response staff are liaising with emergency services and our partners, and actively monitoring the situation and are prepared to respond if required.

"This message will be updated this evening, Monday, December 19, or as the situation changes."
