Man 'seen carrying knife' in Tenterden High Street is charged

A man has been charged after he was allegedly seen carrying a knife in a high street.

Michael Greenstreet was reportedly seen with the weapon outside Tenterden Town Hall on Saturday by a member of the public and police were called.

The 45-year-old of Church Road, Tenterden, was later observed boarding a bus in the direction of Ashford.

A police spokesman said: "We were called to a report of a man seen with a knife in Tenterden High Street at around 2.35pm on Saturday, September 28, and following enquiries an arrest was made at Ashford railway station on the same day.

"Michael Greenstreet, 45, of Church Road, Tenterden, was charged with possession of a knife in a public place.

"He was released on bail to appear at Folkestone Magistrates’ Court on October 30."
