£53m raid accused: I played no part in heist

A KOSOVAN man accused of playing a pivotal role in connection with Britain's biggest ever cash robbery has denied his part in the conspiracy.

At the Old Bailey on Tuesday, Jetmir Bucpapa, 26, of Hadlow Road, Tonbridge, refuted evidence given by hairdresser Michelle Hogg, accusing her of lying.

Earlier in the case, Miss Hogg was cleared of all charges against her when the prosecution offered no evidence.

The court has heard that she provided make-up for some of those subsequently charged with involvement in the £53million robbery of the Securitas depot in Tonbridge in February 2006.

Among the gang, she said, was Bucpapa.

Dismissing the claims, Bucpapa said: "I've never met the girl. It's absolute rubbish, it's a lie."

Bucpapa also became the second of the defendants to refer to Tonbridge-based judo Olympian Christopher Bowles.

The court has heard that DNA from both Lea Rusha and Bucpapa was found in a van containing a gun, balaclava and £1.4million following the robbery.

Bucpapa admitted he had been in the van, but only at the invitation of the vehicle owner Mr Bowles.
