Police appeal after robbery at Beales department store, Angel Centre, Tonbridge

Police are hunting a robber who stole wads of cash from a Tonbridge department store.

Officers were called to Beales at the Angel Centre on Saturday following reports a man had stolen a large amount of money.

The cash was taken from an office safe between 3.30pm and 3.40pm.

The man was disturbed by a member of staff whilst in the office. He pushed them out of the way before running away towards a taxi.

Officers believe the man got into the taxi and travelled to Tunbridge Wells town centre, where he got out near Argos in Calverley Road.

The suspect is described as a black male, aged in his 20s, of medium build. He is thought to be around 6ft tall with a southern accent and black cropped curly hair.

He was wearing a black and navy jacket which was elasticated at the neckline and wrists, dark jeans with a brown leather belt, and navy blue trainers.
