Armed police called to Tonbridge after reports of man making threats

Armed police descended on a street in Tonbridge, following reports of man making threats and in possession of weapons.

Officers were called to Northwood Road at 3.40pm on Saturday, and closed the road as firearms officers called on the occupant of a property to come to the door.

Kent Police later confirmed they had been unable to locate a suspect, but a man handed himself in the next day.

A statement from police said an initial report stated a suspect had been in possession of a bladed item..

They added: "On the following day, a man presented himself at Tonbridge police station and was arrested in connection with making threats to kill and harassment. He remains in custody."
