Woman's body pulled from River Medway at Tonbridge following search for missing Ann Barham-Clayton

A woman's body has been pulled from the River Medway at Tonbridge.

The grim discovery was made following the search for 75-year-old Ann Barham-Clayton who went missing from her Barden Road home yesterday.

The body was found close to Haysden Country Park at 1.40pm today.

Richard Waring, 62, a local resident said: "there have been lots of police around the area since last night.

"I'd heard a lady had gone missing. If it is her they've found in the river it is so very sad. It's just awful to hear of such things. A very sad story."

Police had been in the swimming pool car park for most of the day and left this afternoon after finding the body.

The body has not yet been formally identified, but family members have been informed.

The death is not being treated as suspicious.
