Hildenborough: Man charged with causing Steven Copping's death

A man has been charged with causing the death of Hildenborough father.

Steven Copping died after his Volvo V60 was crushed by a Renault lorry that overturned on the A27 between Polegate and Lewes on March 5.

The 49-year-old, of Byrneside, died at the scene.

The driver of the lorry, David Hare, was arrested following the collision and has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.

Hare, of Ford, near Salisbury, has been released on bail to appear at Hastings Magistrates' Court on September, 2.

Mr Copping's family paid tribute to the "best dad in the world" in a heartfelt tribute.

In a statement they said: "Steve was the best dad in the world and a devoted loving husband. He was funny, friendly and selfless with a massive heart. He was loved by everyone who crossed his path.

"He will be sadly missed by those he loved and those who loved him. We feel blessed to have had him in our lives for as long as we did. He will never be forgotten. He was our everything."
