Southeastern services disrupted after person hit and killed by train in Paddock Wood

Rail services were disrupted after a person was killed by a train.

British Transport Police were called to Paddock Wood station at 11.05pm yesterday following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Paramedics also attended and a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesman for BTP said: "Officers are currently working to identify the person and inform their next of kin.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

Services were suspended between Ashford and Tonbridge following the incident.

Rail operator Southeastern said replacement buses were sent to help transport stranded passengers.

The line reopened just after 2am.
