Shoppers at Sainsbury's in Angel Lane, Tonbridge raise money for air ambulance

Shoppers at a Tonbridge supermarket have raised more than £1,000 for Kent's air ambulance service.

Visitors to Sainbury's in Angel Lane raised a total of £1,600 by taking part in a raffle to win a brand new convertible Mini Cooper.

Staff and volunteers from the Marden-based air ambulance charity sold tickets for the draw at the store on April 29 and 30.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance relies almost entirely on public support.

The raffle for the £19,000 three door 1.6 Mini Cooper continues and tickets, costing £5 each, can be purchased online by clicking here.

The draw will take place on Friday, March 31 2017.

Last year’s raffle was held to celebrate the charity’s Silver Jubilee and raised more than £210,000 – enough to fund 84 potentially life-saving missions.

James Cook, lottery manager, said: “We are really grateful to Sainsbury’s Tonbridge for allowing us to come back for a second year to promote the Win a Mini raffle, and to the public for their support.”
