The 2,900 sq ft shop will represent a return to use as a grocer’s for the building, which originally opened as the International Stores in the 1970s.

The shop is part of an extensive redevelopment of the site – once occupied by the Tonbridge Baptist Church – by Hopper Homes, which will also see the construction of six flats on the three upper storeys – four with one bedroom and two with two bedrooms.

Liam Hopper is the owner of the company. He said: “We are thrilled to announce that a Morrisons Daily will take the commercial unit within The Nave development on 78c Tonbridge High Street.

“This will provide a late-licensed convenience store to service the local community, opening up new jobs and providing additional facilities to local residents.

“It’s fantastic to have the space let to such a brilliant operator and brand.

“This store will be handed over to the operator of the Morrisons Daily in the third quarter of this year.’’

Mr Hopper added: “Meanwhile, our new flats will be coming to the market soon and will be aimed at first and second-time buyers.

“There are QR codes within the hoarding around the building that these interested can scan for further information.”
