Tonbridge Angels manager Steve McKimm offers new deals to every member of his promotion-winning squad

Adem Ramadan is the first player to leave Tonbridge this summer - but everyone else has an opportunity to stay.

Manager Steve McKimm has offered new deals to every member of his Bostik Premier promotion-winning squad, bar Liam Smith and Callum Taylor, but that's only because they're away on holiday.

Six players have already signed - Jonny Henly, Chinedu McKenzie, Alex Read, Jared Small, Tom Derry and Jack Parter - but Ramadan has left after rejecting a new contract.

McKimm said it was a surprise to see the winger reject terms but wishes him all the best for the future.

The Angels boss wants to keep his squad together and will give players time to make up their minds.

He said: "Every player in the current squad has been offered a new deal, apart from Liam and Callum, but I'll be speaking to them when they're back.

"They were all offered deals last week.

"It's only right that I try to keep every member of the squad that got us promoted.

"That was my aim, and then to add one or two, and I'm just waiting back on answers before I move on to other targets.

"I felt it only right they get an opportunity to play in National South and they deserve it because they've worked so hard over the last year to achieve promotion.

"They have a chance to play at the next level, against some good sides, and I want to keep the squad together as much as possible because I think the camaraderie and team spirit and the work ethic of the boys will help us massively at the start of next year.

"They deserve the chance to put their wits against teams like Maidstone and Aldershot."

McKimm is putting potential new signings on hold while he waits for answers.

He added: "I've had some calls but I've been honest and said to people that I'm waiting on my squad to decide what they want to do first.

"There's no point in me signing two or three players when I might need to fill different positions if people decide not to stay.

"I want to give my squad every opportunity to think about the offers they've been given and decide what's best for them as a person and a player, and then I'll take the next steps after that."
